You know... you really are a rather mean person for putting me and Severus through this, you know? Hasn't he been through enough over the years? Do you really think you should be allowed to play with people's lives like this? The City itself is bad enough, but do you really need to cause this amount of emotional repercussion for your own amusement? It's shameful.

And do you think you even have a handle on my character? You've never written me before. In fact, I'm pretty sure you're just doing this because you can't do the "dead wife" set up with your other poor "puppet". And just so you are perfectly clear, Severus and I never had a romantic relationship, so you'd better throw that out of your mind right here and now. I refuse to have my emotions played with.

I'm... I'm sorry... I... I don't know what to say to that... But... if you're sorry for what you did... you should have a second chance. And it was war, right? Back in my world... we think a war is brewing... and... bad things happen in wars to good people. I can't understand how... what you're going through, but I can imagine...

And... your wife... do you think that she wants you to be torturing yourself like this? I mean... if she "sacrificed" her self to save you... I would think she would want you to be happy... so... you shouldn't keep happiness from your life. Happiness and love... those are the most important things out there. Friends... and family... nothing else is more important.

Daijoubu de gozaru. This unworthy one's wife died fifteen years ago, that she did. He has been wandering Japan for ten years since the revolution ended, protecting the happiness of those in front of him with an oath never to kill again, that he has. That is his answer, that it is... He is not "torturing" himself, that he is not. He regrets most of the decisions in his life, but he keeps on moving forward because to do anything else would cause Tomoe's death and the deaths of all those during the bakumatsu to be meaningless, that it would.

And... for the first time in all that while, this unworthy one has a "family" of his own, as patched together as it is de gozaru. He is... somewhat happy, that he is. They have given this unworthy one a reason to value his life again, that they have.

And Himura is this unworthy one's family name. You may call this unworthy one by either name, though traditionally we Japanese call others by their family name in order to be polite, and change to their given name as a relationship builds. What would you prefer this unworthy one to call you by de gozaru?

Good. I'm very glad to hear that. You seem like too nice of a person to do that to yourself. So... is there no way to get you to drop the "this unworthy one" phrase?

And I would definately prefer you call me Lily. James Potter, who is the guy I eventually marry, but I just can't see it considering he's such a jerk in my time, calls me "Evans" and it just makes me mad.
